Different theories on Bimini Road.
There are many different theories on how Bimini Road originated but there are three main ones that stand out.
Atlantis Theory
One of these theories states that Bimini Road is a remnant from the Lost City of Atlantis. There are many theories very similar stating that Bimini Road is related to Atlantis so I couldn't find the original person who came up with this theory.This theory is mainly based from a man called Edgar Cayce (18 March 1877 - 3 January 1945) who was an American psychic who allegedly possessed the ability to answer questions on subjects such as healing, wars, Atlantis and future events while in a trance. In 1940, Cayce predicted that Atlantis would rise again. He said "Poseidia will be among the first portions of Atlantis to rise again. Expect it in ''68 and '69; not so far away!" According to the Cayce readings, Poseidia was the "western section of Atlantis," and the area off Bimini is the highest point of this sunken land.
There is no evidence to prove that Bimini Road is related to Atlantis but there is one thing that can put this theory in jeopardy. Plato stated that Atlantis was around nine thousand years old. The stones found at Bimini Road have been dated by radio carbon dating. Archaeologists found that according to radio carbon dating the stones are apparently two thousand to four thousand years old, therefore proving to be too young to be a part of Atlantis.
Gavin Menzies' Theory
This theory was created by Gavin Menzies. In his 2002 book 1421: The Year China Discovered The World, Menzies proposed that the road is a submerged emergency drydock used by a Chinese Imperial fleet exploring the Caribbean between 1421 and 1423. Menzies hypothesizes that the ships were caught in a storm and that to commence repairs, the fleet had to create a drydock using their large, rectangular ballast stones. Since sea levels were approximately six feet lower six centuries ago, Menzies believes that the now submerged Bimini Road stones were once on the shore of North Bimini Island.
Natural Theory
Another one of the main theories claims that the rocks are a natural formation and that it is common for beach rock to crack into tessellating formations giving the appearance of a man-made structure. There are some points that can disprove this theory;
In the 1980's investigators took core-drillings at Bimini Road, They extracted micrite, aragonite and calcite which does not occur in beach rock. This seems to indicate that the rocks at Bimini Road are not a natural formation. Also, oceanologists and geologists state that it is a normal occurrence for beach rock to split into a tessellating pattern similar to Bimini Road but, there is no other known place in the world where beach rock has been found in a similar formation to Bimini Road
Additionally, most geologists have long claimed that the Bimini Road is a natural occurrence, which would mean that if you lifted the rocks, only sand and water bed should be beneath the Bimini stones. But, in 2006, Dr. Greg Little led a team of researchers on a dive at Bimini Road and what they found was an entire second layer of square-cut rocks with similar dimensions beneath the stones Bimini Road, therefore proving that Bimini Road is not a natural formation and must be made by man. Dr. Little also discovered a series of heart-shaped rocks, all with un-natural holes bore in their centres, some with multiple holes. He believed that these were most likely used for anchors of some sort, and the Bimini Road may have been a type of docking wall, agreeing with Gavin Menzies' theory.
